The Meaning of Geography to Me
A science that has provided me with lots of useful and interesting information, that helps
me understand the world I live in.
Impact of iGeo Preparation on my Life
Studying geography at the university level in a foreign language at the middle of the high
school period was an immense challenge. However, thanks to our team leaders and
previous Olympic team members, it was a very enriching experience as I acquired a lot of
valuable knowledge and skills. I can’t compare the Olympiad itself with anything I had
participated in previously: flying to Japan for about 12 hours, breathtaking Japanese
landscapes and culture, magnificent Polish cities and their tumultuous history, meeting so
many great people from all over the world who share your interests, two gold medals in
the end, so many memories… Although I eventually decided to study Medicine, recognising
spatial patterns, getting around in new areas or cities and understanding them, thinking
systematically and asking questions are among the things I learned from geography and will
always use them.
Ideas for Promoting Geography
More media coverage in the participating countries, extending the iGeo network to as many
countries as possible.
