The 2023 iGeo - Bandung, Indonesia

Bandung is the largest metropolitan city in West Java, Indonesia. It is situated in the interior of Java on the northern edge of a plateau nearly 2,400 feet (730 m) above sea level. The city lies on a river basin surrounded by volcanic mountains, which added the beautiful natural panorama of Bandung.

Appointed by UNESCO AS CREATIVE CITY OF DESIGN in 2015, Bandung's cultural side is also unique, starting from the language, traditional dances and exceptional food. The Sundanese hospitality and the creative atmosphere gave Bandung its artistic image. Asia-Africa Street witnessed the Asian-African Conference, which marked the formation of the Non-Aligned Movement in 1955. Traces of Bandung's historical landmarks, such as Gedung Sate and Braga Street, have also become the main icon of Bandung that succeeded in attracting tourists.

THE 19TH INTERNATIONAL GEOGRAPHY OLYMPIAD was held face-to-face by Indonesia from 8 to 14 August. The Local Organising Committee in Bandung was led by Dr Samsul Bachri.
